DroSpeGe:
A new BLAST Service for Drosophila Genomic
Sequence
As many of you know, within the next few months, we will have
genome sequence for a dozen Drosophila species. With the exception of the finished D. melanogaster euchromatic arms, these genomes are
in various stages of harvesting DNA, sequencing and WGS assembly. In
collaboration with the sequencing centers and as a service to the community
FlyBase is now offering querying and browsing access to these dozen
genomes.
Access includes:
* Annotated sequence
maps where available (currently D. melanogaster and D. pseudoobscura.
* BLAST service for
the assembled genomes and community GenBank sequences (currently available for D.
melanogaster, D.
simulans, D.
yakuba, D. erecta, D. ananassae, D. pseudoobscura, D. virilis and D. mojavensis).
* Links to the trace repositories for each species.
As new data become available from the sequencing centers, FlyBase
will update the files.
The top level page for this service is: http://flybase.net/species/
We hope that this site will be of value to you and look forward to
your feedback on ways to improve this service.
Sincerely,
The FlyBase
Consortium & The Drosophila Sequencing Centers
