Addition of 'Closest relatives' data.

May 2005: 'Closest relative' data now available in Gene and Annotation reports.

The Model Organism Database groups are committed to providing links between their databases, hence the addition of a 'Closest relative' table to FlyBase Gene and Annotation reports.

The data currently available from 'Closest relative' links comes from Inparanoid (Version 4.0).  Inparanoid detects best-best hits between sequences from two different species.  See Inparanoid FAQ for further explanation.  We intend to update these tables in line with Inparanoid updates.

For an example, see the synopsis report for eag:FBgn0000535 and follow the 'Closest relative' link to the Inparanoid Orthologs .
